Tell Your Story

Let us ghostwrite your story for you!

Let us ghostwrite your story for you!

Lack the time, expertise, or confidence to write your own memoir? Let The Cheerful Word write it for you. Our ghostwriters specialize in helping everyday people discover and preserve stories that matter.

Our writers guide you through a no-hassle process of becoming the consummate storyteller. After a little bit of prep work, all you do is tell your stories! It feels like a series of conversations with a good friend, aimed at capturing the stories you treasure.

Each interview is digitally recorded so we understand your unique voice and turns of phrase. This helps ensure the final book contains the character and personality for which you are known. One of our greatest compliments is when we hear a relative read one of your books and say, “That sounds just like you!”

What's the ghostwriting process?

  1. Contact us and we’ll send you a brief questionnaire to tell us a little bit about yourself.

  2. Our project manager, Sam, will contact you and ask a few questions and answer any you may have lingering.

  3. If you both feel that moving forward is a stellar idea, Sam will send you an Agreement to read and sign. She will then choose a writer she feels is the best fit for you.

  4. After we receive your deposit and a signed Agreement, which includes an outline of project milestones and a soft publication date, your writer will contact you to arrange a schedule for interviews and draft review dates.

  5. The rest is for you to sit back and enjoy the experience of being a storyteller! Your writer will guide you through the interview process as you narrate your own life stories, just the way you want to be remembered. Once we’ve completed a first draft, you will review and respond with comments on a questionnaire we’ll provide to you.

  6. Your writer will then produce a final draft. This draft will go directly to a book designer who will design the interior and cover according to the theme of your content.

  7. Your book is proofread and corrected.

  8. You will receive a PDF draft of your book to approve for printing. You will have an opportunity to review and respond. Only minor errors can be corrected at this stage such as dates or name spelling corrections. Once this is complete, your book is printed and delivered to you.
